My Favourite Books of 2014

Posted on

Can you believe that 2014 is coming to a close? This year seems to have flown by, and brought with it, its fair share of chaos.
I have been ready for this year to be over for a LONG time. But that isn’t to say that there was not some very good moments in this year.

My daughter blossomed, she also turned three.

I made some great friendships this year with amazing authors that I have had the privilege of working with.
So while I am thankful for a new year and a new start. I am glad that *most* things happened this year.

Going through my posts this year, and I realized that my best books of the year are all books I always have on me and have constantly been recommending. I love that people are coming to me for suggestions.

I have also become a member in an awesome community that gives me great opportunities to gift books a lot more. 🙂

My Best Books of 2014 are:

Review: Hera Queen of Mortals

Posted on

hera queen of mortalsRating: 5 stars

Super annoyed GR didn’t let me know this was out despite being a fan and friend of the author on the site. I would have dropped everything to read this book when it came out. IN OCTOBER of last year! GRR.

Hera Queen of Mortals, is book two in the series.
Hera Queen of the Gods had me hook line and sinker (and possibly salivating at the mouth from the killer cliff hanger)

I was dying to read this one.

Hera Queen of Mortals, was easy to fall into, and hard to put down. I burned through it in a day. Staying up, way, way passed a sane bed time when you have a toddler to finish it.

..Now to try to write this and avoid spoilers..

Hera QOM was a bit of a tough read for me. But that was because there was one set path were my heart could only see this going. Had it gone any other way my heart would have shattered into tiny pieces at the end.

That’s not to say the story is obvious, far from it. The cracks in my heart are proof of that.
I loved the story, the new characters and the return of much loved favourites.

There was not as much Justin in this book, as I think \I assumed there would be.
It worked for the book, just tore my heart into a million pieces a few times, because he was by far, one of my favourites from book one.

He’s just so open and honest and perfect. I love the way he interacts with Hera. Hilarious moments, raw moments and heart splitting awwe moments.
I swear these two might be my favourite couple of all time.

They have a realistic romance, despite all the things in between, it’s also not a romance that over powers the story, or is particularly nauseating.  Heck it was perfectly written because I wanted more of it and usually anything romance makes me run the other way.

Monsters and superpowers. I was pleasantly surprised to see some interesting super powers pop up in this one. I love authors that don’t go for the obvious.

Nothing about Hera QOM is obvious. Which definitely will catch you off guard every once in awhile and leave you holding your breath.

Super great book. Definitely worth five stars, and at least one more book in the series.
Admittedly, I would also LOVE a book just of Justin and Hera, not to mention on that fills in what was happening with Justin between book one and his return book two.
(PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE)

Mythology lovers will love this series, as will fantasy readers and anyone who loves a little some different that’s a whole lot awesome.
